BSc in Pure Mathematics

Coordinator
Prof. Dr. Ali Nesin

Our mathematics curriculum is modelled on that of the world's leading departments. Throughout the first two years of intensive study, students acquire the basics of abstract mathematics (basic sets theory, analysis and abstract algebra) and the skill of mathematical thinking. The last two years of the program concentrate on advanced subjects and prepare the students for graduate courses at the international level and for individual research. In the 6-week summer school, every year our students get the chance to have one-to-one contact both with their peers and their instructors and to better their mathematical knowledge. In the weekly seminars held during the academic year, our students are given the opportunity to meet and listen to lectures of internationally known mathematicians. The major aim of our department is to prepare our students for the graduate school in pure mathematics. However, those who wish may continue their career in applied mathematics in the areas such as computer science, economics or business administration.

BSc in Financial Mathematics

Coordinator
Asst. Prof. Dr. Yonca Demir

The Financial Mathematics curriculum offers a mixture of interdisciplinary courses in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, International Finance and Economics, the purpose being to prepare students for work in the modern world of finance. Their solid mathematical background will place our graduates in an advantageous position in the job market. Graduates may later choose to specialize in areas such as Finance, Risk Analysis, Statistics, Computer Programming for Finance, Actuarial Studies, Real Estate Assessment and Investment Analysis.
