Eigen-values and eigen-vectors. Diagonalization. Kernel and image of a linear transformation. Characteristic and minimal polynomials of matrices, theorem of Cayley-Hamilton, Jordan canonical form, Classification of finitely generated modules over a PID, application to finitely generated abelian groups. Inner product spaces, bilinear forms, dual vector space. Selected topics by the instructor.
Prerequisite: Math 231 or consent of instructor.
